Statements from SALSA’s Board of Directors

To our pro bono legal volunteers:

SALSA is deeply regretful that you were surprised by the recent news of its funding crisis. SALSA broke trust with you in the way communications occurred. SALSA is committed to providing pro bono legal services in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Because of your overwhelming support in the past several months, SALSA’s services never ceased. You rallied behind SALSA because of our shared commitment to justice. SALSA is grateful for your continued support as we strengthen our foundation for the future. We owe you an enormous debt of gratitude for contributing to SALSA’s impactful work. The Board of Directors is reviewing its policies, procedures, and strategic fundraising plan, assessing areas of improvements, defining risk thresholds, and implementing a Finance Committee, which will be responsible for ensuring long-term financial sustainability and transparency. SALSA will improve communications about its fundraising progress and campaigns through the newsletter and website. SALSA is committed to rebuilding our relationship with you through consistency and openness, and we welcome your feedback as we do so.  We will honor your support by increasing transparency to restore your confidence in SALSA’s long-term vision.

To our community of supporters:

Because of your overwhelming support in the past several months, SALSA’s services never ceased. SALSA’s mission remains the same—providing pro bono legal services to those who need it most in our community. SALSA is deeply regretful that you were surprised by the recent news of its funding crisis. SALSA broke trust with you in the way communications occurred. The Board of Directors is reviewing its policies and procedures, assessing areas of improvements, defining risk thresholds, and implementing a Finance Committee, which will be responsible for ensuring long-term financial sustainability and transparency.  SALSA will regularly provide more information about fundraising progress and campaigns. SALSA is committed to rebuilding our relationship with you through consistency and openness, and we welcome your feedback as we do so. Thanks to you, we have a runway giving SALSA the time and resources to plan for financial sustainability.
