Want to help assist with disaster recovery following the winter storm?

Volunteer with SALSA’s FEMA Appeals Program!

Help community members impacted by the winter storm that have filed for federal assistance from FEMA and had their claims denied. Volunteer attorneys will draft the appeal package and submit to FEMA for appellate review by the agency. Training resources including videos, sample appeals, and other pertinent materials are available.

Looking for a new pro bono opportunity? SALSA offers clinics and limited engagement programs in a variety of subject matter areas. Remote opportunities to assist are available and volunteers receive access to training materials and mentor assistance.

Medicaid Estate Recovery Program (MERP) 101 CLE

Wed, March 17th, 12 pm – 1 pm (1 hours)

Join us and hear from Patricia F. Sitchler, an expert in the Medicaid Program field, as she provides a very basic understanding of the Medicaid Program benefits for Nursing Home applicants including Medicaid Estate Recovery to avoid mis-steps in estate planning. As well as learn about the new Small Estate Clinic SALSA is launching as a response to COVID’s impact on pro-se probate   This training will provide FREE 1 hour CLE credit. CLE is pending with the State Bar.

Remote Alternatives to Guardianship Q&A

If you’ve already registered to volunteer with the December ATG Clinic, this is a remote live Q&A to supplement the training video that you’ve watched from the ATG Resources Page that was provided to you once you registered for the ATG Clinic. The Q&A will provide you an opportunity to ask additional questions that may not have been answered on the training video.

Remote Alternatives to Guardianship Clinic 1-3 pm

Thu, March 25th, 1 pm – 3 pm (2 hours)

Attorneys, this is a remote clinic. We invite you to join us as we partner with TRLA (Legal Aid), Disability Rights Texas, the Arc of San Antonio, and St. Mary’s Law School to provide supported decision making agreements, powers of attorney, and other empowering documents for adults with disabilities and their families. Volunteer Spanish language skills are a plus!
