SALSA benefits from the exceptional talent and work ethic of St. Mary’s University School of Law students. This is especially true of the Moody Fellows that provide critical support for our veterans’ programs. This semester, we are fortunate to have Olga Acosta, a retired Air Force Finance officer (and prior enlisted paralegal) and current 2L, assist us with increasing SALSA’s impact on veterans.
Olga assisted with a state-wide project spearheaded by the Texas Veterans Legal Aid Coalition to create information videos targeted at Texas veterans for Texas Veterans Legal Aid Week (TVLAW). SALSA aided in the creation of a Veterans’ disability benefits video for TVLAW that provides detailed guidance to veterans about these critical financial benefits. Olga has also been instrumental in paving the way for the creation of SALSA’s Veterans for Veterans Brigade – a cohort of Veteran legal professionals (attorneys and paralegals) that are committed to furthering SALSA’s efforts to provide critical legal services to those that have served our nation.
