SALSA receives Grant to support Veterans’ Treatment Court participants

February 10, 2022

SALSA is pleased to have been awarded $140,600.00 in supplemental Veteran grant funding by the Texas Access to Justice Foundation (TAJF) to support our work in partnership with the Bexar County Veterans Treatment Courts (VTC).

SALSA Staff Attorney Joe Pina (Major, US Army, Retired) has been spearheading this growing partnership with the VTC, whose mission is to “promot[e] sobriety, recovery, and stability through a coordinated response that involves the cooperation and collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs health care networks, the Veterans Administration, volunteer veteran mentors, veterans family support organizations, the Center for Health Care Services and the Bexar County Veterans Services Office.” SALSA is thrilled to be one of the veterans family support organizations that supports and serves veterans struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), substance abuse disorders, mental health and/or co-occuring disorders.
