Thank you for volunteering for the Property Tax Protest Workshops. SALSA is collaborating with the City of San Antonio and Texas Rio Grande Legal aid to facilitate these workshops in each city council district.
Volunteers will assist individual community members with completing and submitting exemption forms on the spot. These could include tax exemptions for homesteads, disabled veterans, over 65, tax deferral applications, and other similar submissions to BCAD. This “workshop” component will take place after a one-hour presentation on property tax protests and exemptions. Volunteers need not be licensed attorneys — paralegals, legal assistants, and law students who are familiar with these exemptions, or willing to learn, are also invited to help.
