Wills Clinic
June 15 @ 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Free*THIS REGISTRATION IS FOR VOLUNTEER ATTORNEYS*
SALSA’s Wills Clinic provides complete estate plans to low-income San Antonio residents at no cost — and it’s one of the most accessible and well-supported ways to give back, whether estate planning is your specialty or not.
The clinic is a true team effort, bringing together volunteer law students who assist with intake, volunteer attorneys who draft the documents, board-certified estate planners who review all prepared documents, and volunteer notaries and witnesses who assist with execution.
Each client receives a complete estate plan, including a Will, Medical Power of Attorney, Statutory Durable Power of Attorney, Declaration of Guardian, Directive to Physicians, and HIPAA Authorization
What to expect as a volunteer attorney:
Once you register, SALSA staff will send you a conflict check. After clearance, you’ll receive a completed client questionnaire — drafted with the help of a law student — along with an engagement letter defining the limited scope of representation. All work completed within that scope is covered under SALSA’s professional liability policy. From there, you and your client work together to finalize their estate plan at your own pace.
Before documents are finalized, a mentor office hours meeting is scheduled with a board-certified estate planner to review your drafts. You’re never on your own.
A great fit for attorneys at any experience level:
Experienced estate planners can serve in a familiar area with ease, while newer attorneys or those who practice in other areas of law can learn about estate planning in a safe, guided environment — all while providing a meaningful service to the community.
The clinic operates on a rolling virtual model, allowing you to work with clients remotely on a monthly registration cycle. It’s flexible, low-barrier, and high-impact.
