Clients are pre-screened and income-qualified before the clinic\, so you can spend your time on the documents rather than intake. \nWhat You’ll Do \n\nMeet with pre-screened clients during scheduled appointments\nPrepare a simple will using SALSA’s forms and templates\nPrepare ancillary documents as needed — medical and financial power of attorney\, directive to physicians\, HIPAA authorization\, disposition of remains\, and declaration of guardian\nExecute documents on-site with volunteer notaries\n\nNo Estate Planning Experience Required\nThese are straightforward wills\, and SALSA provides the forms\, a brief orientation\, and experienced mentor attorneys on-site to consult on anything unusual. Your commitment ends when the clinic does — there is no expectation of ongoing pro bono representation. Volunteers are covered under SALSA’s malpractice policy. \nWhat to Bring\nYour laptop. Everything else is provided. \nWhy It Matters\nFor most of the families you’ll serve\, this clinic is the only realistic path to having a will at all. Without one\, a home can end up in probate court instead of passing to a child\, and a parent’s wishes about guardianship go undocumented. SALSA provides the documents\, the workspace\, and a brief walk-through of the execution process before clients arrive. \nWho Should Volunteer\nAny commissioned Texas notary in good standing. Paralegals\, legal assistants\, and administrative professionals are especially welcome.
