Join SALSA and My City My Home for a Tenant Repair Workshop designed to help tenants in Northwest San Antonio navigate their rights under the Texas Property Code. As a legal volunteer, you will play a critical role in empowering tenants to protect their housing by providing hands-on assistance in drafting repair request letters and answering housing-related legal questions.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Assist tenants in completing repair request letters to landlords
Provide basic legal guidance on tenant rights under the Texas Property Code
Ensure attendees understand how to follow up on their repair requests
Identify tenants who may need extended legal support or referrals
Work alongside staff attorneys and community advocates to support housing stability
Who Can Volunteer:
Licensed attorneys with an interest in housing law or tenant advocacy
Law students looking for hands-on pro bono experience
Spanish-speaking attorneys and law students are especially needed
Additional Notes:
Volunteers will receive on-site guidance from SALSA staff attorneys.
Tenants will be asked to bring a copy of their lease to ensure they receive the best assistance.
This is a limited-scope pro bono opportunity—volunteers will assist tenants with repair request letters only, with no ongoing representation required.
